Spring 2024 rush

Rush is a wonderful opportunity to learn more about Theta Tau and meet the brothers of the fraternity. During the week of rush, we host several events to help you gain a better sense of our community and what being part of Theta Tau is all about! Through meeting the brothers, listening to career panels, and joining in community service, we hope to determine whether you’d be a good fit for our fraternity. We look forward to seeing you at rush this semester! Click here to stay updated with more information!

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is Theta Tau?

Theta Tau is a co-ed professional engineering fraternity founded on the following three pillars: Brotherhood, Professional Development, and Service. We are a diverse community of engineers on campus who support one another socially and professionally.

WHAT is rushing?

Rushing is the process in which rushees (non-brothers seeking to join the fraternity) learn more about the fraternity and meet the brotherhood. Come out to our events throughout Recruitment to introduce yourself to the active members of the fraternity and see whether you would be a good fit to join our community. At the end of rush, we extend a limited number of invites (bids) to the rushees to join the fraternity. After receiving a bid, you can then decide whether you want to accept the bid and become a pledge.

Who can rush?

Only those pursuing a B.S.E. at the University of Pennsylvania are eligible to rush for UPenn’s Theta Tau chapter.

what is pledging?

Upon receiving a bid, a rushee becomes a pledge. Pledging is a semester-long process in which you become integrated into the brotherhood. This process involves various events that are supposed to help you bond with your pledge class as well as get to know every active member of the fraternity.

how does theta tau choose who receives a bid?

Because of the large number of people who rush Theta Tau every semester, receiving a bid can become quite competitive. We review each rushee based on many factors, including personality, professionalism, resume, etc. to determine whether you would be a great fit for our brotherhood. We encourage you to talk to as many brothers as possible during Rush so you can also see whether our community is a good fit for you, both socially and professionally!
