PLEDGE CLASS: Gamma

What were you involved in while at Penn?

I sang in an a cappella group (Xander White used to be a member and it was through my membership to the group and meeting Xander that I found out about Theta Tau). The group no longer exists, sadly (we were called The Chord On Blues). I was also in a karate club, Penn Taiwanese Society (it's a funny story), and played rec soccer off campus.

What have you been up to since graduating?

I have worked at a few places (City of Philadelphia and AECOM) within the environmental engineering field but now work as a permit writer for the State of Michigan's Air Quality Division. Outside of work, I currently fence (saber and epee), do karate, and other random activities. I lived in the Philly area after graduating, then moved to the DC area. Now I live in good old Lansing, Michigan (holler at me if any of you find yourself in Michigan).

What was the biggest change, going from college to career?

Oooh, that's a tricky one... The biggest change is having a more routine, somewhat monotonous, and uninterrupted schedule. You work throughout the year, then rinse and repeat it the next year.  Not a bad thing at all but it's definitely a big change from semester/break/semester/break (Did I just make a long-winded answer about having a job?).

What was/is your favorite thing about Theta Tau? Favorite OT events/memories?

Definitely Chapter! Sure, it was a meeting... but with people I loved being around and seeing.

Do you have any advice for us still here at Penn?

My advice would be to not push yourselves to hard and if you feel yourself reaching your breaking point, stop, take a step back, take a few deep breaths, and take a break. You might even have to reach out to a friend, or to CAPS... and that is more than ok! Your health matters.

Anything else you’d like to share with/say to the brotherhood:

Never stop being the great chapter and SEAS organization that you are. But also don't be afraid to reach out when in need.
